Anxious, is the word that comes to mind as we near our first major goal of getting out of debt. As we move closer to the finish line, I stop to think about how we made such amazing progress. In September of 2016, we had a balance of $30,000 left on our car. In July 2017, it will be paid off. That’s 10 months!!!!
In order for that to happen, we had to make some changes. Some of those changes were more cooking at home and little to no shopping. We also did other things like giving ourselves a raise, but more about paying my car off later. I will have a specific post on that in July, when it actually happens.
Refocusing on our Financial Journey
Today, I want to focus on refocusing. Did that make any kind of sense? For May and June, many occasions were going on for us. (Graduations, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthdays ect…..) We’ve not been saving as much as we were previously, which is okay. Even though, we haven’t went back to our old ways, we have been slacking in the past couple of months. For example, we’ve been eating out more than usual. Those darn restaurants can be a struggle lol! So we are back to living
frugal almost frugal. We aren’t extreme as some of the frugal blogs I follow, but we do incorporate some of their tips.
So yes, the hubby and I had a discussion of refocusing and tightening our budget. It’s good when your spouse is on the same page as you in your financial journey. If you’re having trouble with that, this article will help. Motivating and encouraging each other is just as important than budgeting in the process. You don’t want to lose your mojo and always remember your why. Don’t be too hard on yourself during your financial journey. You will have some good months and not-so-good months. Just keep going!!!
