Let me start off by saying that I am not judging anyone who decides to take part of the shenanigans of Black Friday and Cyber Monday…..but I need to rant. As we were on our way home last night from my in-laws, we could see the store parking lots full from the highway. In my mind, I could just imagine what it was like in the mall, Target, Best Buy, ect….. I started to think about how much my mindset has changed from last year. I swear I don’t even recognize the old me.
Everyone is promoting how much you’re saving money, but how are you saving when you’re out spending? You are spending how much money, compared to saving a few bucks? That doesn’t even resonate with me. I love business and I know the first step of closing a sale is getting customers to the establishment or website. Once they have arrived, there is a slim chance in not making a sale. How often do you leave a store empty-handed? The truth is you are there to buy.
The whole thing reminds me of a fisherman putting out bait to hungry fish. Here we are waiting to latch on, thinking we are actually getting a break at something. Last week on my way to work, I notice 3 straight commercials advertising about Black Friday sales. I just shook my head in disgust. That’s why so many of us are brainwashed. Advertising and marketing is everywhere!!! Who needs all of that crap anyway? Buy this. Buy that.
We went home and spent the rest of Thanksgiving playing and dancing. There was no television playing and I wasn’t on the computer working either. I wouldn’t trade that time at anyone’s store. There’s no amount of things on sale that could replace my family time.
