Last week, I had my first vendor event promoting my Total Life Changes business and products. I’ve attended my events and seminars, but nothing dealing with my network marketing business. Leading up to the event, I was nervous and some of my fears included:
- What if no one comes to my table?
- What if I choke up when talking to people and my old introvert self comes out?
- What if my table looks like crap next to everyone else’s table?
- What if I got lost and arrived extremely late since the event was in the next city over (Houston)?
I decided to slap fear in the face and drive on. If I was going to fail, it would be a lesson learned for my next event….since I’m not stopping. There’s a few things that I did prior to the event to ease my nerves that I could actually control.
The hubby and I set up my table at home as if I were at the event. After we agreed on the perfect set up, I took a few pictures for quick reference. By doing this, I was able to save so much time when setting up at the event. The hubby had to stay home with the kids which was a blessing in disguise. If he would have came, I probably would have talked to him more rather than networking. He would have been my safety net and now is the time I need to dive and swim. Is it your time as well? What are you holding on to keep you SAFE? Remember safety holds up progression.
The event was a much success. I must have thrown the introvert me out of the car on the way, because she was nowhere in sight. I met some beautiful, amazing ladies with goals and vision. Being around women like this gives me life and confirms that I’m working in my passion. I was very informative about my products, shared a few testimonies and even cracked a few jokes.
This is why we need to stop letting fear and the unknown dictate our life. Take chances and stop being afraid to put yourself out there. What the worst that can happen? You screw up and get talked about? Something that I realized is that when you are around others who have goals and working on their own success, everyone is stepping out on that ledge. Everyone knows the importance in taking chances and facing fears because they are doing the same thing themselves. Either they have been through it or going through it now. If you want to keep growing, keep scaring the shit out of yourself by going to the next step. If nothing scares you in your life right now, you are comfortable and complacent. That is something I can never be.
In conclusion, sales weren’t my #1 priority even though I made a good amount of money. My priority was on making connections, planting seeds, and receiving the experience. Now that my first is over and done, my fire is lit! I can’t wait for the next one! Stay tune boss babes!
