I have been promising this post ever since I started talking about how my life has changed and small changes. Again, let me state that I am not bragging about anything, just sharing our journey in reaching our goals. Of course, we will reach them much faster living on a budget.
I’m No Longer That Person
If you have been following this blog or my channel, you know how much of a shopaholic I’ve been in the past. Not only was I a shopaholic, but I was a restaurant and grocery store spender. Even though, we weren’t behind on anything, we were wasting a hell of a lot of our income. I thought we were good since we weren’t behind on anything and we were still saving. I WAS SO WRONG!
What Changed Me
I was introduced to Dave Ramsey by my boss. Little did I know it would change me and my family’s life. I started listening to his podcast and then purchased his book. I couldn’t stop reading it. I literally read it in one day. My brain was going 100 miles an hour. The baby steps that Dave teaches is a SIMPLE ROAD MAP to financial freedom. He tells you step by step how to get out of debt and become wealthy. He even shows you how to pay off your house in 7 years! Did I mention how simple the steps are?
Though we were saving and contributing to our 401K, I never thought about paying off our house fast and investing. My family and our way of thinking has completely changed. We now budget and plan to be financially free within 10 years. That means EVERYTHING will be paid off including the house. I thought we were good but according to Dave Ramsey, we were one emergency away from being broke! (One of my favorite quotes by him lol.)
The Life She Created Blog
Since my lifestyle has changed, so did this blog. You can live a fulfilling life without spending a ton of money. You can still go on vacation while budgeting to pay off the house. My point is that I will still blog about fashion and beauty because we still need to keep ourselves fabulous. Nevertheless, you will see more lifestyle posts about my budget lifestyle and how to incorporate it in your own life. This information will also be added to my channel so be sure to subscribe. I want us to be on this journey together. I am blessed that my boss shared this information with me and my job is to pass it along. With that being said, here’s our family goals….as of now.
Family Goals In Order:
- Pay off my new car. Our estimated time is the end of 2017.
- Pay off our current home by 2024. I am claiming sooner.
- Rent out that house or remodel it.
- Purchase a new home or more real estate to rent out.
As you can see, our goals include owning real estate. This is another form of investing and a way of creating cash flow. I don’t want to retire because of my age, but because I can. I stopped our goals at one rent house but if we are able and willing, we will own many more properties.
Think about your own debt and goals. Do you have student loans or credit cards that you need to get rid of? What are your goals? List them below and claim them to be yours. If you haven’t read Dave Ramsey’s book, please purchase it ASAP. Besides the bible, this book is the most powerful book I’ve ever read. I feel so strong about it that I will be giving one away to a member of my VIP list. If your aren’t a member, you can sign up for free here.
